Harlem: Cocktails, music and soul food in West London

Nii Swaniker

Harlem bar in Westbourne Grove, West LondonA slice of 1950s American Harlem in London, Harlem is a small bar beneath a restaurant sharing the same name serving American soul food. You descend into a dark cove-like bar with a scattering of soft chairs against walls covered in old skool era  posters of bands and singers. The drinks are expensive but varied, from classic spirits to modern cocktails. The clientele of  local West-Londoners drink away merrily to a DJ who plays a selection of soul hits from yesteryear with a sprinkling of funk and neo soul.De la Soul allegedly favour this spot while in London, but Harlem certainly isn’t too cool or pretentious  for the everyday person.
